Domain 4A: Reflecting on Teaching
Once a teacher completes a lesson, the learning and work is not finished. It is extremely important for teachers to continue evaluating their lessons to better reach their students in the future. There will be elements in a lesson that work and elements that do not work, therefore it is crucial that teachers reflect on their lessons to better plan for future lessons. Whether it is taking attendance, collecting money for lunch, or collecting money slips for photo day, it is extremely important that a teacher keep records. There will be moments when students, especially in the younger grades, do not remember what they ordered or wanted for photos. It is the teacher's job to ensure that everything is kept in one place and not lost to prevent any miscommunication. In addition to extra curricular activity records, teachers must keep academic records such as attendance, grades, and more. To learn more about this sub-domain, click on the button below!
This domain can potentially be one of the most difficult or easiest for the teacher. In the elementary grades, parents love to be involved in the classroom and school events. As the students grow older, sometimes participation from parents can be lacking. It is crucial that the teacher is in constant communication with parents about their student as well as what is happening in the classroom. For more information on this topic, click the button below!
Domain 4D: Participation in a Professional Community
There are so many different ways for teachers to participate in a professional community. It is up to the teacher whether he or she will go out and participate in the professional community, but it should be an important factor for the teacher. Twitter and Pinterest are two different site for teachers that allow for participation in a professional community. The more a teacher participates in a professional the more he or she will grow in the profession of education. Final thoughts on Domain 4F Professionalism is a key aspect to every teacher, and it is something that should not be taken lightly. When teachers are hired by school districts, they are looking for a teacher who is willing to continue their education and go beyond the classroom. The teacher who demonstrates professionalism above and beyond what he or she is called to do is the one who will have their effort and work pay off in the end. Professionalism may not always be the easiest aspect of teaching, but it is one of the most important. Honesty, integrity, personal development, and much more are a part of this domain of Charlotte Danielson's Framework. If teachers are referring to Danielson's Framework for Teaching, then they will be referring to this domain and attempting to increase their knowledge in the field of education. During my research on this domain, I became involved in a few different PLNs (Professional Learning Networks). A teacher that I was talking with constantly emphasized the importance of being connected with a group of teachers as well as getting involved in education conferences. Learning never stops when you are an educator, and it is important that you are refreshed and get pushed as a teacher. Going the distance as a teacher will pay off in the end, and will make each day in education a treasure.
